Family owned and managed Shanesville Fruit Farm is well known for its peaches and cherries, considered by some to be the best in the area. All purchases made from the local outlet just outside Boyertown, which opens when they start picking peaches in early summer and closes in December when the weather becomes inclement. Stating in June with “pick your own” cherries, the availability of fresh fruits continues through the summer and fall. Unique in the area, they offer both first quality fruit for the table and second quality, just as nutritious as first quality, but not as pretty, for cooking and baking. Apple varieties include Gala, Fuji, Ida Red, Gold Delicious, Red Rome, Cortland, Ida Red, Cameo, Jonagold, Stayman, Honey Crisp, and Empire. They also pack, and ship fruit anywhere in the United States.
