Foodies, wine aficionados, spirits drinkers behold! Historic Boyertown is surrounded with food you’ll love, wine you’ll savor, and beer, whiskies, ciders and more to partake in. Bring your friends and family, taste, savor and tour, stopping at each of the locations on our new Tasting Trail to see what’s in store. Plan to spend more than one day in our area or return again and again, there are 21 stops in all, organized into three separate loops, each with interesting tastes and flavors.

The food and beverages on Historic Boyertown’s Tasting Trail cover a wide range of tastes. Unlike most tasting trails, which include only wineries, breweries and sometimes distilleries, we want you to really enjoy the unique tastes of our region. We’ve designed the Historic Boyertown Tasting Trail with wineries, breweries and distilleries, complemented with restaurants with great wine lists and farm to table dining, a traditional deli, a restaurant that specializes in beer and luscious home made pies, a bakery that bakes fresh everyday inside a farm market, a traditional deli with meats and pickles, a fruit butter farm, a dairy that produces its own full-flavored ice cream, a gourmet cheese maker, and a pub that offers a Bloody Mary breakfast menu! Yum!

If your taste buds have the fortitude to explore more than one trail loop at a time, book into the Twin Turrets Inn, to reside in Victorian luxury during your stay.

Frecon Farms
501 South Reading Avenue, Boyertown, PA 19512

It’s been 75 years since the Frecon family began growing the finest cherries, apricots, plums, blueberries, peaches, nectarines, pears, raspberries and apples, which you’ll find offered at many locations throughout the Delaware Valley. Yet, they didn’t stop there. Five years ago, they changed everything to make room for their very own scratch bakery, using seasonal fruit and the finest whole ingredients in pies, cookies, breads, donuts, sweet breads, and more, made fresh daily.

And there’s more. A few years ago, Frecon Farms began making their own craft cider from maturing heirloom fruit, in great flavors like Early Man, Crabby Granny, Hogshead, and Farmhouse, Apfelwein and Scrumpy Estate Ciders. And they also offer wines from Blair Vineyards and Maple Springs Vineyards, meads from Stonekeep Meadery and locally sourced milk, meats and cheese from farm partners throughout the area. Frecon Farms uses only the best sustainable farming practices for everything they grow, to enhance the flavor of everything produced and ensure it is the highest quality.

Manatawny Still Works
320 Circle of Progress, #104, Pottstown, PA 19464

The Manatawny River in the Boyertown, a pure, freestone stream named by America’s earliest Americans as “the place we meet to drink” became home to a winery a few years ago. Then a brewery emerged and now a distillery – the Manatawny Still Works, a state of the art distiller, producing the highest quality, small-batch handcrafted spirits, on the banks where the area’s Native Americans met at the water. Even though the still works is fairly new, the variety of spirits produced is surprising. Their featured Keystone Whiskey is a surprisingly complex, four-grain whiskey made of two row malt, wheat, oats and rye. A small batch series whiskey is distinct, memorable and strictly limited production. Other offerings include Hidden River Barrell Rested Gin, T Rutter Rum, Three Bitches Wheat Vodka, Maple Whiskey, Swarmbustin’ Honey Whiskey, and Apple Brandy. Say the owners “we take out commitment to delivering quality spirits seriously, without losing sight that we are in the venture to have some fun. We located the Still Works in an old industrial space in Pottstown, repurposed into a unique space where visitors can have a good time. Take a tour, attend a bottling workshop, or just come to sip.
